Obama Supports Treaty Outlawing Gun Possession

Posted by gibb On May - 4 - 2009

Infowars - As Lou Dobbs notes here, Obama is in favor of the ratifying CIFTA, the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms. On its face, the treaty sounds reasonable because it would “prevent, combat, and eradicate the illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other related materials” (emphasis added). However, upon reading the bill we discover the following:

Stressing the need, in peace processes and post-conflict situations, to achieve effective control of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other related materials in order to prevent their entry into the illicit market.

Obama has promised Mexican President Felipe Calderon that he would urge the Senate to take up CIFTA. He is doing this under the cover of the drug cartel violence in Mexico. Obama and Calderon quoted a statistic echoed by the corporate media that 90% of the weapons seized in Mexican raids were purchased from U.S. gun shops and a reason why the U.S. needs to ratify this treaty. In fact, this is a lie — only a mere 17% of guns found at Mexico crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

CIFTA would bury the Second Amendment under “pertinent resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly.” It would criminalize ammunition reloading (defined as explosives manufacture) and gun assembly (including firearm kits and presumably breaking down weapons for cleaning or transport).

Language contained in the CIFTA treaty insists it respects “the principles of sovereignty, nonintervention, and the juridical equality of states.” Not mentioned is the fact the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties has a superior rank to national laws. If the CIFTA treaty is ratified without exception, it would kill U.S. sovereignty and lead the way to destroying the Second Amendment.

It should be noted that only the Senate needs to ratify the treaty. Article II, section 2, of the Constitution states that the president “shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur.”

The United States was one of the first signatories to CIFTA in November, 1997. The Convention was transmitted to the Senate in June 1998 and to this day awaits the Senate’s advice and consent. 29 of the 34 OAS member states have ratified CIFTA. Only the US, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and St. Vincent & Grenadines have yet to do so.

Obama laments not being able to ban guns

Posted by gibb On April - 20 - 2009

Examiner - We’ve all seen the news stories about how retail sales of firearms have been at record levels ever since Barack Obama won the election. Two primary reasons have been cited for this spike in ownership, uncertainty about the economy leading to fears of increased crime and the concern that the Obama administration will move to reinstate the “Assault Weapons Ban” which expired in 2004.

Many of those stories have quoted anti-gun pundits as saying gun owners are being paranoid and that the new government isn’t out to ban guns. This claim was repeated when U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said, “as President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstate the ban on the sale of assault weapons.”

About a month later, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton echoed that claim when she opined, “I think these assault weapons, these military style weapons, don’t belong on anyone’s street.” She also noted, “We’re going to talk to the Congress, I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It’s a very heavy lift.” It’s a heavy lift because the People don’t want more of their rights taken away.

Now, after letting his administration hammer away at the issue, President Obama let his true feelings be known during a press conference yesterday.

“I continue to believe that we can respect and honor the Second Amendment right in our Constitution — the rights of sportsmen and hunters and homeowners that want to keep their families safe — to lawfully bear arms, while dealing with assault weapons that, as we know here in Mexico, are used to fuel violence,” Obama said.

The last president to lie to the American people was impeached. Obama must have been directing this particular lie to Mexican citizens. It is a lie because in the United States, gun that were covered by the expired AWB accounted for a very small percentage of all gun related crimes, hardly qualifying them to “fuel violence.” It is also a lie because his administration continues to perpetuate the myth that 90% of all weapons used in the Mexican Drug Wars come from the United States. All people have to do is watch news footage or read articles showing automatic rifles, grenades, explosives, and RPGs being used, none of which are readily available in the U.S.

“Traffickers have escalated their arms race, acquiring military-grade weapons, including hand grenades, grenade launchers, armor-piercing munitions and antitank rockets with firepower far beyond the assault rifles and pistols that have dominated their arsenals.”

The truth?

“Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea, eluding U.S. and Mexican monitors who are focused on the smuggling of semiautomatic and conventional weapons purchased from dealers in the U.S. border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.”

So, while official are looking at and blaming the U.S. for the smuggling, the real gun trafficking is happening behind their backs. Of course, the real issue isn’t where the guns are from but finding an excuse to further infringe gun rights in this country. That’s been the goal all along, and President Obama isn’t giving up.

“I have not backed off at all from my belief that the assault weapons ban makes sense,” Obama said, adding that he is not “under any illusions that reinstating that ban would be easy.”

If only those pesky American citizens would stop insisting that the U.S. Constitution be followed! Our rights and freedoms can’t be taken away without a fight, and right now all that stands between an increasingly socialistic government bringing their personal brand of change to this country and a two hundred year old document is the People willing to defend it. Obama laments that getting his way won’t be easy. Taking rights away isn’t supposed to be.

Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

Posted by gibb On February - 26 - 2009

Editors Note: Told you! You cant have a government sanctioned genocide in America without a gun ban. This will attempt to only allow criminals and government thugs (including Obamas stasi) to be armed. The banned ammo will include all .223, 308, and 7.62×39 ammo. Stock up now. Things are going as planned for the New World Order. The pile of skulls in our logo is no joke, the writing is on the wall. -Gibb
The Ban Expired in 2004 During the Bush Administration.
By JASON RYAN

ABC news - The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

“I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.” Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence.

“Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades,” the warning said. “Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez.”

At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence.

“I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts,” he said.

Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however.

“It’s something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign,” he said. “There are obviously a number of things that are — that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I’m not sure exactly what the sequencing will be.”

In a brief interview with ABC News, Wayne LaPierre, president of the National Rifle Association, said, “I think there are a lot of Democrats on Capitol Hill cringing at Eric Holder’s comments right now.”

During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider.

“I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller,” Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual’s right to own a weapon.

The Assault Weapons Ban signed into law by President Clinton in 1994 banned 19 types of semi-automatic military-style guns and ammunition clips with more than 10 rounds.

“A semi-automatic is a quintessential self-defense firearm owned by American citizens in this country,” LaPierre said. “I think it is clearly covered under Heller and it’s clearly, I think, protected by the Constitution.”

Gun Owner Concerns in the So-called “Stimulus” Bill

Posted by gibb On February - 18 - 2009

GunOwners - It was a day that will live in infamy. President Obama traveled to Denver, Colorado yesterday to sign the multi-billion dollar, pork-laden, so-called “stimulus” bill into law.

But forget the $787 billion price tag you heard on TV. Forget the $12 TRILLION debt limit which the bill created. By the time debt services and other frills of the “socialism bill” are accounted for, the cost will be over $3,000,000,000,000 (yes, three TRILLION).

This makes the bill the biggest government spending grab in human history. But what about the details? The hundreds and hundreds of pages in the bill were not made available until less than 18 hours before the final passage vote. But here’s what we know in relation to the gun-related provisions:

* The final bill continues to spend between $12 and $20 BILLION on requiring your doctor to retroactively put your most confidential medical records into a government database. Based on our experience with veterans, we would expect the government to try to use computerized psychiatric records to impose gun bans on people who have sought (or will seek) treatment.

* The final bill continues to fund liberal community action groups like ACORN, which, you may remember, engaged in massive criminal election fraud on behalf of Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy and also was involved in anti-Second Amendment activism in New Jersey.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was at least honest when he said it would be a shame to let a crisis like the current recession “go to waste.” Like vultures picking on the nation’s carcass, the White House has used the nation’s pain to lavish largesse on its political supporters, at the expense of the nation’s economic survival.

And, in the end, this act of ethical depravity was made possible by every Democrat Senator who voted for the bill, plus the defections of three Republicans: Arlen Specter (R-PA), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and Susan Collins (R-ME).

If there is one silver lining to all of this, it’s the debunking of a rumor that recently swept across the internet. The rumor claimed that the provisions of HR 45 — the massive gun registration bill introduced by Chicago congressman Bobby Rush (D) — were “rolled into” what was passed. But having searched the contents of the new law, GOA staff has determined the rumor appears to be false.

HR 45 May be More Troubling Than the Average Anti-gun Bill

HR 45 May be More Troubling Than the Average Anti-gun Bill
– Legislation may reflect Obama’s thinking

by Mike Hammond

GunOwners - Those of you who regularly peruse the GOA website know that there are dozens of anti-gun abominations which are introduced as legislation in the Senate and House each Congress. These include, particularly, national gun licensing and broad gun bans.

GOA provides a summary of these bills for the benefit of our members and friends. But we do not focus on most of these bills because they are so extreme that they have no chance of passage. They are cynically introduced so that the Brady Campaign can raise money by threatening anti-gun measures it could never pass.

But the first anti-gun bill of the 111th Congress — Chicago Congressman Bobby Rush’s H.R. 45 — has caught the attention of many in the Second Amendment community as something we need to be worried about.

This is because of the extremity of the bill:

* H.R. 45 would require a federal license for all handguns and semiautomatics, including those you currently possess; and

* It would require handgun and semi-auto owners to be thumbprinted at the police station and to sign a certificate that, effectively, the firearm will not be kept in a place where it would be available for the defense of the gun owner’s family.

Pretty scary, huh? But, while this despotic nuttiness makes you wonder why a congressman from the Murder Capital of the Midwest would think that it would help to make the residents of New Hampshire, Alaska, and Wyoming comply with his blood-soaked city’s anti-gun laws, there have been other bills which are just as unconstitutional.

Rather, what makes H.R. 45 troubling is its sponsor and its timing.

Its sponsor is Congressman Bobby Rush — a scion of the same super-corrupt Chicago political machine that produced disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich and President Barack Obama.

And as for its timing, it was introduced during the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Eric Holder — the man who tried exploit the Columbine tragedy in order to pass gun licensing as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration.

And make no mistake about it: Licensing is only a way-station to discouraging, arresting, or humiliating gun owners and outlawing guns. Under H.R. 45, for example, the applicant must also make available ALL of his psychiatric records, pass an exam, and pay a fee.

So… are you a veteran who has ever consulted a psychologist or psychiatrist? Guess what? The FBI would soon be examining every confidential statement you have ever made during those consultations.

Private sales of handguns and semi-autos would be outlawed, and reports to the attorney general of all transactions would be required, even when — as the bill allows — the AG determines that a state licensing system is sufficiently draconian to substitute for the federal license.

But, you may be thinking, “I’m just a hunter with a deer rifle… surely, none of this is relevant to me”?

Then you should know that, with virtually no exceptions, ALL firearms transactions (including person-to-person private sales of long guns, hunting rifles, shotguns, etc.) would be subject to the same paperwork hassles that are required when buying from a dealer.

In addition, the bill would make it unlawful in virtually all cases to keep any loaded firearm for self-defense. A variety of “crimes by omission” (such as failure to report certain things to the government) would be created.

Criminal penalties of up to ten years and virtually unlimited regulatory and inspection authority would be established.

Combined with the Ammunition Accountability effort to outlaw ammunition in numerous states, this two-pronged attack would soon make gun ownership a thing of the past.

Barack Obama was fond of saying during the campaign that he supported the Second Amendment. And we read of gun buyers who are flocking — while it is still legal — to purchase firearms, but who concede that they believed Obama’s assurances and voted for him.

But we may soon see a more horrific, nastier side of Barack Obama… and a capacity to go after his political enemies. And we have to assume that he will view gun owners as just about the most important of those enemies.

Help Stop Eric Holder From Becoming Attorney General

Posted by gibb On January - 13 - 2009

GunOwners.org - Barack Obama is wasting no time poking a sharp stick in the eyes of gun owners.

The incoming President’s choice for U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, is an anti-gun extremist who has assailed gun owners since his days in the Bill Clinton administration.

Holder, who served as Deputy Attorney General from 1997-2001, supports a 3-day waiting period for handgun purchases, one-gun-a-month rationing, licensing and registration of all gun owners, mandatory so-called smart gun technology, a lifetime gun ban for certain juvenile offenses and regulating gun shows out of existence.

As Janet Reno’s top deputy, Eric Holder was the go to guy on gun control issues.  In a 1999 statement, Holder told members of Congress not to cave in to “the special interest that value the cold hard
steel of guns more than the lives of children, neighbors and police officers,” and urged them to pass legislation that would have destroyed the gun show industry.

Gun Owners of America members flooded the Congress with postcards and e-mails and stopped Holder’s gun control plan.

In 2000, Holder was instrumental in the Clinton Administration’s effort to strong arm firearms manufacturers into voluntarily accepting regulations that had stalled in the Congress.

In a brazen legislation-by-extortion plot, the federal government filed suit against gun makers but offered to drop the suit if the companies would bow to the administration’s demands. Again, GOA and its members took the lead in opposing Holder and the Clinton Administration and slowed down implementation of the agreement until it completely went away when Clinton left office. One company went along with the deal but after intense pressure from gun owners, no others joined the unholy alliance.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, in an op-ed in the Washington Post, Holder pushed for more gun control and greater restrictions on gun shows, even though the terrorists were armed with box cutters that could be purchased at any hardware store.

Just last year, Holder joined Janet Reno and 11 other former Justice Department officials in an amicus brief before the Supreme Court arguing in favor of the gun ban in Washington D.C.

The Holder/Reno brief also took the position that the Second Amendment protects a collective government right, not an individual right.

GOA and its members have defeated Eric Holder and his agenda in the past, and we need to do it again.  The Holder nomination is subject to Senate confirmation in a vote which is set to occur at any time.

Gun Owners of America has asked all members of the U.S. Senate to reject this anti-Second Amendment activist.

Now we’re urging gun owners across the country to contact their own Senators and insist that they vote “NO” on Eric Holder.

ACTION:  Please use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send your Senators the pre-written e-mail message below.

—– Prewritten Letter —–

Dear Senator:

Barack Obama’s selection of Eric Holder for U.S. Attorney General is
unacceptable to gun owners.

Eric Holder supports a three day waiting period for gun purchases,
licensing and registration of all gun owners, driving gun shows into
extinction, and much more.

I urge you to vote “NO” on the Holder nomination.
